Vivah Hindi Movie (2006), starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao and directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya, was a superhit of 2006. The romantic Bollywood movie was reminiscent of typical happy-go-lucky romantic movies from the Rajshri camp like Hum Aapke Hai Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Vivah Hindi Movie (2006), with Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in lead roles, was directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya, a Bollywood trendsetter who revived family-oriented themes in Hindi cinema. While Vivah Hindi Movie marked Barjatya’s comeback after Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon (2003), it deserves much applause for re-creating a modern setting for the traditional values of engagement, arranged marriage, and family values. If you are a fan of Barjatya’s previous movies, it is a movie that you cannot miss. If you are yet to experience the on-screen magic of his movies, this movie will be an absolute treat! Music by Ravindra Jain adds to the traditional feel, but also evokes freshness with Shreya Goshal’s and Udit Narayan’s voices amidst the orchestra’s richness. This is solely meant for an audience wanting to experience the two actors’ journey to marriage, where the only villain is circumstance, a trademark of Barjatya’s movies. Barjatya packs music, dialogues, emotions, tension and romance into this 160-minute movie.
Vivah Hindi Movie Story
Vivah Hindi Movie reminds us of Cinderella, as the story begins with Poonam (Amrita Rao), an orphan who now lives with her uncle (Alok Nath), aunt (Seema Biswas), and cousin (Amrita Prakash). With her aunt jealous of Poonam’s beauty when compared to her own daughter’s looks, she reluctantly agrees to get Poonam married with much pomp. Bhagatji (Manoj Joshi) takes Poonam’s marriage proposal for Prem (Shahid Kapoor), famous businessman Mr. Harishchandra’s (Anupam Kher) son. Prem is Prince Charming, upholding the traditional values and a perfect match for Poonam in every way possible – much to the aunt’s frustration. Engaged and soon to be married, both Poonam and Prem embark on a romantic journey “from Engagement to Marriage.” On the day of the marriage, an unexpected twist turns Poonam’s and Prem’s lives upside down. Will their love survive the crisis? Will their romantic journey culminate in marriage?
